Antique Choir Stalls
Quality:
Very good - slight wear, commensurate with age
An antique choir stalls in dutch renaissance style for 'Onze Lieve Vrouwen Abbey' in Oosterhout, the Netherlands 19th century. This richly decorated church seat known as ‘choir stalls’ were used by the choir to rest during mass.
When the seat of the choir stall is folded up, the small platform (the misericord) offers a ‘merciful’ support for the buttocks, allowing one to rest whilst standing without appearing to be seated.
The stall is made of solid oak and is therefore very heavy. The left-hand side of the stall is slightly more wobbly than the right-hand side due to its age.
This item shows wear and tear commensurate with age. Please check carefully our pictures as they are part of the description.
